Free in-person presentation on September 11, 2025
The Edwin S.H. Leong Centre for Healthy Aging and Providence Health Care, are pleased to host Dr. Tim Takaro, Professor Emeritus from Simon Fraser University for a talk titled: "The health of Canadians in the climate emergency: what can you do?" This is the first talk in our Fall 2025 series, which will focus on the theme of "Climate Change and Aging".
This talk will examine the climate emergency through the experience of a physician-scientist who's career has focused on the health impacts of climate change. Dr. Takaro will describe the stiff political resistance to overwhelming evidence presented by scientists from around the world, that Canada must stop building new fossil energy infrastructure, rapidly transition our energy production to renewables and turn to a future where societal well-being, not fossil energy profits carries us into the future.
