Campus Vision 2050 Implementation Session

Members of the Emeritus College are invited to a session to learn about Campus Vision 2050 implementation. 

Members met several times in 2022-2023 to learn about and provide feedback to support the Campus Vision 2050 planning process. In this engagement session 2+ years later, members will hear from UBC Campus + Community Planning staff about the progress of implementing Campus Vision 2050 with time for questions and discussion.

Implementation of Campus Vision 2050 has been underway since Board approved the long-term vision for the campus at the end of 2023, and provincial adoption of UBC's updated Land Use Plan in 2024. 

• Housing initiatives include significant updates to the Wesbrook Place Neighbourhood Plan to enable more faculty/staff and market housing, services, amenities and open space, and detailed planning for the redevelopment of the Saint John’s College area to provide an additional 1,000 new student housing beds.
• Concurrent work continues across other Campus Vision 2050 priority areas through projects and the development of updated plans, policies and strategies. This includes guidance for current and future academic development projects, and new policy development and project delivery direction for climate action, biodiversity, the transportation network and SkyTrain, open space, amenities and Musqueam presence.
