All My Relations: Addressing Climate Crisis as Cultural Dysfunction
Join us for this dynamic session during UBC’s Climate Emergency Week!
We humans are in ecological overshoot, destroying the conditions for life on the only home that we humans have ever had: Planet Earth.
Our overconsumption of natural resources with high levels of waste combined with accelerated global heating have led to the point that, if action is not taken now, civilization will be jeopardized and much human and non-human life on earth will be extinguished. This situation is the direct result of our global economic system that puts profits and economic growth ahead of the health of people and the planet; a symptom of cultural dysfunction.
This 2-hour event features ways to address cultural dysfunction through the film, All My Relations: Indigenous Wisdom and the Climate, Environment Emergency, Directed and Co-produced by Frank Tester, Professor Emeritus of Social Work, followed by small group discussions, and a response from three witnesses in the Coast Salish tradition. It’s a chance to connect, reflect, and reimagine our relationship with the planet and each other.
Register now to be part of the conversation and help shape a just, sustainable future.
