Promoting Physical Activity across the Life Course: A Group-mediated Precision Medicine Approach
Dr. Mark Beauchamp will explain how health behaviours can be supported by a group-mediated approach to precision medicine. The talk will primarily focus on promoting physical activity, but will also examine other health behaviours. By the end of this event, participants will be able to:
- Describe how health promotion efforts with hard-to-reach populations can be informed by a group-mediated approach to precision medicine.
- Examine recent examples of physical activity interventions, across the life course, that have utilized this approach.
- Consider how a group-mediated precision medicine approach might be utilized in their own work with children and older adults.
Speaker Biography: Dr. Mark Beauchamp is a Professor of Exercise and Health Psychology in the School of Kinesiology at the University of British Columbia. His work centres on understanding barriers to, and facilitators of, health-enhancing physical activity across the age spectrum, and developing and evaluating physical activity interventions with various populations.
