Philosopher's Café
February 4, 2026, 11:00 am to 12:00 pm
Topic: What kind of Canada do you want for 2026? Will you be “elbows up” in your assertion of our independence and rejection of Trump’s “51st State” idea? What do you think about some Quebecers' and Albertans’ desire for “independence” from Canada? Do you think we should be reducing the number of immigrants we accept into the country? How about the Charter of Rights' insistence that individual rights are beyond the reach of the whims or prejudices of the majority? Join us in a discussion of how we see our country at the start of this New Year.
The Philosophers' Café is held in the Club Room in Seasons (formerly Tapestry) at Wesbrook Village from 11:00am. Coffee and tea will be served. Residents of Seasons are welcome to join us for the discussion and often many UBC Colleagues have lunch at the restaurant afterward to continue the conversation.
Please note: parking is unavailable in the Seasons parkade. There is free 2-hour parking under the Save-On-Foods in Wesbrook Village as well as limited street parking. The closest UBC parking is the Thunderbird Parkade at 6085 Thunderbird Blvd.
