Philosopher's Café

Topic: A Ward System for Vancouver?
In the last election in Vancouver for City Council there were 70 candidates running on the ballot. Most of them were running as independent, although there were a few parties. It was very challenging for voters to make decisions.
Mayoral candidates Kennedy Stewart and Colleen Hardwick have been saying that Vancouver should adopt a ward system instead of the current “at large” system, and are preparing to challenge the province’s municipal voting system in court. If a referendum were held, how would you vote, and why?
The Philosopher’s Café is held in the Club Room in Seasons (formerly Tapestry) at Wesbrook Village from 11:00am. Coffee and tea will be served. Residents of Seasons are welcome to join us for the discussion and often many UBC Colleagues have lunch at the restaurant afterward to continue the conversation.
Please note: parking is unavailable in the Seasons parkade. There is free 2-hour parking under the Save-On-Foods in Wesbrook Village as well as limited street parking. The closest UBC parking is the Thunderbird Parkade at 6085 Thunderbird Blvd. From the Thunderbird Parkade it is a 15 minute walk to Seasons.
