When Trump calls Canada "the 51st State”; Russia refuses to recognize Ukraine; the US wants to build a wall with Mexico; and Britain talks about paying Rwanda to take would-be immigrants, how long can the world system of borders continue? Might we be going back to the system of empires which dominated the planet for so many millennia?
