Truth and Consequences: My Life on the Crime Beat. 40 Years Exposing Canada's Darkest Stories
with Kim Bolan, Award winning crime report and blogger, The Vancouver Sun
Ms. Bolan covers gangs and organized crime and runs the popular anti-gang blog The Real Scoop. Since joining the Vancouver Sun in 1984, she has written about the Sikh community, women’s issues, and education and social services. Ms. Bolan has covered the biggest criminal cases in BC history, from the Air India bombing to serial killer Robert Pickton, to the Surrey Six gangland slaying. Her work over the years has taken her to wars in Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Central America and repeatedly to northern India to investigate the Air India bombing. Her book, Loss of Faith: How the Air India Bombers Got Away with Murder (2005), won the Dafoe Book Prize and was a finalist for the Shaughnessy Cohen Prize and the Edna Staebler Award. Ms. Bolan is the first Courage in Journalism Award winner from Canada (1999).
