SIG: Community Volunteer Group
April 14, 2022, 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm
with invited guest Holly Jones from MOSAIC
Join us for Zoom meetings with invited guests who share volunteer oppourtunites in our community. Hosted by Nancy Gallini.
We are fortunate that Holly Jones, the volunteer coordinator at MOSAIC, will join us to tell us about volunteer opportunities for helping refugees and immigrants resettle in Canada. Several members of the Community Volunteer Group expressed learning more about this area of volunteerism, especially given the crises in Afghanistan and Ukraine, and Canada’s pledge to resettle 40,000 Afghan refugees and an “unlimited” number of displaced Ukrainians.
MOSAIC is one of the largest non-profit organizations that help immigrants and refugees resettle in Canada: https://www.mosaicbc.org/. In addition to telling us about this wonderful non-profit and related organizations that work with refugees and immigrants, Holly also will provide suggestions on how to best match your interests and skill set with volunteer positions. This will be a great opportunity to learn how we can support new residents from Afghanistan, Ukraine and other parts of the world in the course of making Canada their new home.
