The Future of Cars
At the beginning of the 20th century, 40% of American automobiles were powered by steam, 38% by electricity, and 22% by gasoline. By 1935 electric vehicles had almost disappeared; cheaper petrol and continuous improvements to the internal combustion engine having cemented the dominance of petrol vehicles. Now, because of the threat of climate change, we are being exhorted to change back to electric cars. But there are problems with them, too. And what about self-driving cars? What is the future for this central object of our lives?
What do you think?
