An enjoyable AAA ride (All Ages and Abilities).
Meeting Details:
Meet at 10:15 am on the WEST side of Lord Byng Secondary School (ie 16th Avenue and Crown Street, (where there is an open area with some basketball hoops). From there we will head three blocks west along the Ridgeway Cycle Route to Discovery. North on Discovery to 8th. East on 8th to Cypress. South on Cypress to 11th, then a block westwards to join the Greenway (which is closed for skytrain construction between 7th-10th Avenues). We will then take the Greenway south to SW Marine. Cross SW Marine and continue to 75th and then on to Richmond “Island”. Here we will find the MILLTOWN BAR & GRILL, where we will stop for refreshment, Menu is available at https://milltownbar.com . They offer a range of dishes (and of various sizes) as well as a range of drinks.
After our repast and conversation we will ride the Greenway North to 37th Avenue west, then follow the Ridgeway (approximately, back to our starting point.
Route:
This route is generally gentle. There is a relatively steep descent on 8th, and a short climb on Cypress, In broad terms the Greenway reaches max elevation at about 41st Avenue. Southbound there is a generally steady climb to about 37th; after 45th it is all downhill to lunch. Northbound there is a short steep bit up from the river and to 75th and a moderate climb from there to SW Marine (walking some of this may be just the thing to aid the digestion). From SW Marine it is a steady but gentle climb to about 45th Avenue. Thereafter, no troublesome up-grades to worry about.
Partners and e-bikes are welcome
Any emeriti (and/ or partners) interested in joining this ride please contact group convenor Graeme Wynn (wynn@geog.ubc.ca) ASAP who requires rsvp confrimation to book at Milltown Bar.

EASY RIDERS — RIDE 5
we are set to for another incursion into Burnaby. An enjoyable AAA ride (All Ages and Abilities).
MEET AT @ 10:00 am at Arbutus Greenway and West 45th (East side)
Route:
We will head east along the 45 Avenue bike route (which takes in parts of 46 and 47th) to Central Park. Traversing the Park we will pick up the BC Parkway along Beresford and Edmonds and then turn South towards Byrne Creek to return via Rumble Street, the 59th bikeway and the Arbutus Greenway to our starting point.
The weather forecast for Tuesday promises relief from the searing heat of recent days. 20 degrees and some chance of shower.
Only a couple of significant hills on this route (Unless we decided for downhill adventures toward the Fraser River that will perforce exact payment in the re-ascent; mostly we will descend the steepest declines,.
Whether we drop down to the Fraser or not, it is proposed that we reward ourselves with a stop at Adam’s Crepes, 5217 Rumble Street (Authentic French Crepes made with the freshest ingredients”), for refreshment and conversation after making the turn for "home".
